Soccer Academy for Sprouts is for our youngest players, ages 21/2 up to 4 years. The once-a-week training sessions are structured to build soccer
skills while having fun. The skills learned will provide a solid foundation for youth who may choose to go on to more
competitive soccer as they grow older.
Benefits of the Program:
- motor skill development
- improved balance and coordination
- physical fitness
- improved listening skills
- increased running control
- increased body awareness
- improved ability to follow directions
- provides an opportunity for socialization in a positive environment.
The Academy will be on Saturday mornings run for 6 sessions.
Players will be grouped based on age, skill level and parental preference if any. Children are divided into small
groups of 20-25 to allow maximum participation of each child.
The first half of each session will be a group activity and the second half will be a non-competitive 3 v 3 scrimmage.
(This format may be changed depending on the varying needs of the children.)
Each child will receive their own t-shirt to be worn for games (players must furnish shin guards). Shorts
are recommended for warmer days and pants for cooler weather. Either cleats or tennis shoes are acceptable footwear.
Each child needs their own soccer ball (size 3) and please be sure to bring water or sports drinks to all sessions.
The Academy is lead by Lesh Shkreli who has been associated with the NCA since 1988. Lesh is currently the
Director of Coaching and Development for the Blast FC. He has extensive
coaching experience and holds a USSF A level coaching license.
